Formby man caught with indecent images of children and live animals on the web

Formby man has appeared in court for possession of 14,792 indecent images of children including 787 of the most serious category. Mark Formby, 38, pleaded guilty to 5 related charges when he appeared in Sefton magistrates court on November 28th. They stated that he had possession of 787 category A images, 331 of category B images and 13,674 of category C. They also say he had 48 prohibited images of a child and 106 images of extreme pornography involving live animals. Eve Johnson, prosecuting said that police received intelligence that indecent images were available on the Internet from Formby’s address. Please subsequently executed a search warrant at his home, She said and when he was asked if he looked at indecent images, he said “when I have been online, yes I do.” Ms Johnson said that police seized multiple items including computers, hard drives and memory cards. She also said that during interview the defendant stated that he had been curious to see what was out there on the Internet. The magistrates sent the matter to Liverpool Crown Court for sentencing on December 20th and ordered that he sign the sex offenders register within three days. Solicitor Jim Smith representing Formby asked for the court to order a pre-sentence probation report.
