Four vehicle RTC on the Formby bypass caused two mile tailback
An RTC (road traffic collision) involving four vehicles on the Formby bypass caused the road to be closed for a few hours just before 9am this morning, Sunday 16th December.
Witnesses said as many as four vehicles were involved in the smash which happened on the northbound carriageway between the Hightown turn off and the Weld Blundell.
Traffic was being diverted down the new causeway for two hours and then the Police opened one lane to help with congestion.
There were six police cars and three ambulances at the crash scene with road collision investigators overseeing the initial stages of the investigation. It is not known at this stage how bad the injuries were.
The road was fully open again by 1pm this afternoon.
