Formby Junior Sports Club Frank Report & News from Presentation

All games observed one minute’s silence before matches on Remembrance Sunday.

It was another busy weekend for Formby Junior Sports Club’s four hundred and forty members. There was a full range of matches and coaching sessions in the Inter Club Section and nearly thirty of FJSC’s Representative teams also played fixtures home or away as well.

In addition to this action packed football bonanza FJSC also organised a Presentation Event held at Formby Cricket Club to release news of many mouth-watering events planned to celebrate the club’s 60th Year in 2019.

A large number of parents and children attended the event to hear FJSC’s plans for next year and also the club’s vision for the future. The opportunity was not lost to ask parents what they would like to see and also invited parents to say how they may be able to assist the club in various ways in the future as well. FJSC was extremely pleased with the input and will give consideration to all suggestions.

A list of some of the exciting events planned for 2019, which will commence from FJSC’s 60th birthday on 7th January, were announced. This included: -

1 A Memorabilia Day at the Clubhouse.

2 Generation Game

3 Switch It Up Tournament

4 24 hour Marathon Match

5 Valencia Trip

6 Summer Dinner Dance

7 Kids Pool Tournament

8 Any many more……

There will be something for everyone.

Information about these events will follow in due course.

This is all in addition to all the usual “Football for Everyone” that FJSC will be organising throughout next year as well.

To get everyone in the mood please see the club’s video clip on social media. There will be many faces you will recognise and perhaps even your own, as the video flashes through six decades of football at FJSC.

FJSC BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 16’s playing in the Craven Minor League had a very good 8-1 win against Southport Trinity Whites.

There was a double success in the Under15 age group. FJSC Whites won 2-1 against Bootle Bucks with two goals from Billy Steel. Man of the match was Jack Lemmens. The Whites are now in second position in the Bootle League. FJSC Blacks meanwhile stay top of the Championship Division in the Craven Minor League after gaining an excellent 5-2 away victory at Southport Trinity Blue.

FJSC Under 14’s lost at home to Southport Trinity. There were no matches for the two Under 13 teams. At Under 12 level the Whites drew 3-3 away at Crosby Stuart. FJSC Blacks lost to Premier Division leaders Southport Trinity. Goalkeeper Caleb Johnson and defenders Oliver Charnock and Dominic Hamilton did their best to thwart a strong Trinity strike force.

All three Under 10 teams were in action. Thomas Hodgson scored for the Whites against Town Green Blacks. Man of the match was defender Alfie Griffiths. The Blacks played against Crosby Stuart with Matthew Carragher, Finley Richards and Liam Kirk on the scoresheet. Man of the match was Jake Verinder. Also playing well in a good team performance was Aaron Rymill. FJSC Rangers played Phoenix Rangers and produced another good display.

James Cook scored a hat trick for FJSC Under 9’s in the match with Burscough Yellows. Also scoring were Max Ryan and Dominic Maxwell. Man of the match was Franky Moon.

The Under 8’s travelled to Burscough Blacks. Scoring for FJSC were Owen Griffiths, Thomas Szabo and Adam Jackson.

FJSC GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 7/8 Bobcats gained valuable match experience in only the team’s third outing. All the girls played with great enthusiasm against Rainford Rangers. Shanice Jones scored.

FJSC Under 8 Galaxy had a close match with Marina Sands. Amelia Scott scored and girl of the game for a very impressive display in defence was Faith McClelland.

FJSC Under 10 Rockets had a thrilling match with Crosby Stuart. It was a very even contest with Hannah Jones and Megan Hulse on target with goals. Harriet Tunley made some fine saves in goal.

Mae Phillips scored twice for FJSC Under 11 Atletico in another very close encounter with Bootle.

FJSC Under 12 Hotspurs played against Hesketh Colts Reds in the Under 12/13 Division. Hotspurs held their older opponents to 1-1 at half time but tired a bit in the second half and lost 7-3. Girl of the game Ellie Todino, Lilly Lovelady-Lang and Paige Leather all scored one goal each for Hotspurs.

FJSC Under 13 Albion played FJSC Under 13 Real. Brooke Denison gave Albion the lead in the first half with a long- range lob. The match was very even until Albion’s Abbey Leary netted twice in the second half. Aaliyah Turner added a fourth. Gabbi Rimmer was Real’s girl of the game and Evie Lovelady-Lang played well in goal. Albion are still undefeated this season.

FJSC Under 14’s United maintained their excellent start to the season with a 3 nil victory over Bootle Under 15’s. Anna Klaassen scored twice will two cool finishes and Lauren Holden also scored with a wonder strike. Yasmin Jones made some spectacular saves in goal and was United’s girl of the game. Martha Steel won a number of heading duels.

Katie Leech gave FJSC Jets the lead against Churchtown. The dazzling sun in the first half made it difficult for the Jets defenders to see and from two high balls Churchtown capitalised and scored twice to lead 2-1 at half time. The Jets pressed for much of the second half. Simone Jones came very close to equalising but Churchtown managed to hold out.

FJSC Under 16’s had no Liverpool League fixture but two members of the team, Rachel Robinson and Abby Hobbs, represented Merseyside County Schools Under 16’s away against Durham.

FJSC Under 18’s took the lead against Euxton when Anna Rutherford scored with a great strike following excellent quick passing from Nina Macy, Ellie Brewer and Sophie Dixon. Euxton fought back and scored twice to win 2-1. FJSC could not find an equaliser in a valiant effort in the second half.
