Formby Junior Sports Club - Frank's Report 5th November

It was a very successful weekend at Formby Junior Sports Club. Four of the boys’ Representative teams won cup-ties whilst the girls’ teams set a new record of winning nine out of twelve matches played. At Inter Club as well, numbers reached over two hundred and thirty including yet again quite a few new recruits.
FJSC BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS
FJSC Under 16’s won 3-2 against Southport Trinity Whites in the second leg of their cup tie. It was another very close match following the 3-1 first leg win. The aggregate 6-3 scoreline takes the Under 16’s into the semi- finals. Their opponents will be Great Crosby.
FJSC Under 15 Blacks won 7-4 away at Southport and Ainsdale Whites in the Championship Division and retain top spot.
Also at Under 15 level the Whites played Litherland Remyca in the Bootle League. Remyca started well but FJSC took the lead against the run of play. Ben Williams was quick to latch on to a defensive mistake and fed Bill Steele who scored from close range. Remyca drew level by half time. FJSC started the second half well and leapt into the lead when Bill Steele scored again, this time with a low drive from twenty yards which went in off the Remyca post. FJSC held firm to win 2-1 with man of the match goalkeeper David Meadow making a number of crucial saves. The three points gained moves FJSC up into third place in the league.
Andrew Kimmance gave FJSC Under 14’s the lead against Redgate with a headed goal. Redgate however were soon on level terms and went on to win 4-1. It was a much better effort by the FJSC team and if they had taken the few chances they had the final result may have been closer.
FJSC Under 13 Blacks lost 4-2 in the second leg of the cup-tie with Phoenix. Man of the match Owen Williams scored with a stunning drive and Connor Jones scored his goal from a corner. The aggregate score was 8-5 in favour of Phoenix.
FJSC Under 13 Whites lost 9-3 to Premier Division league leaders Ormskirk Sparta.
FJSC Under 10 Whites won 2-1 in the cup against Southport FC with man of the match Dilan Sathiyanathan scoring. Also in the same cup competition FJSC Under 10 Blacks ran out 9-1 winners against Phoenix. Thomas Dent scored a hat trick, Aaron Rymill two and one goal each were scored by Jake Verinder, Harry Lofthouse,Finley Richards and man of the match Liam Kirk.
To complete the fourth cup win of the weekend by the boys was FJSC Under 9’s who moved into the next round of the cup after winning against Redgate Rovers Yellow. Scoring for FJSC - James Cook, Jack Finnegan, Dominic Maxwell, Max Ryan, Zach Barton and Charlie Garvey. Man of the match was Jack Finnegan.
FJSC Under 7’s took part in the Craven Minor League Tournament at Edge Hill University and won their first match of the season. Well done boys.
There were no scheduled league or cup matches for FJSC Under 11’s, FJSC Under 12 Whites and FJSC Under 12 Blacks so they arranged friendlies against each other.
In the match between FJSC Under 12 Blacks and FJSC Under 11’s the following boys scored for the Under 12’s – Calum McNally, Jack Yarwood, Oliver Charnock, Paul Grady and a first ever team goal for Jonny Shaw. Oscar Fletcher was on target for the Under 11’s.
FJSC Under 12 Blacks also played FJSC Under 12 Whites. It was a very even game with the final result being a 3-3 draw. Sam Mycek, Calum McNally and Paul Grady scored one goal apiece for the Blacks. In reply Will Greenwood scored a brace and Jacob Heaney was also a scorer for the Whites.
FJSC GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS
FJSC Under 16’s in only their third Liverpool League match of the season produced a tremendous team performance against Crosby Stuart. FJSC defended for much of the first half with Erin Smith, Abby Hobbs and Annabel Gowling making timely tackles. Behind this well organised defensive unit goalkeeper Rachel Robinson showed a safe pair of hands. Gradually the Under 16’s grew in confidence with Anna Johnson, Josie McIver and Ellie Atherton all putting pressure on the Crosby defence. Eventually the deadlock was broken when Anna Waite gave FJSC the lead from close range. Crosby Stuart equalised soon after. In an exciting remainder of the match the hard working Aimee Hollis won possession and fed Josie McIver who was quick to pick out a great pass to striker Anna Waite. Anna calmly ran through to finish superbly with a shot that went in off the Crosby Stuart post to earn her team a very good 2-1 win against a talented Crosby Stuart.
In the West Lancs League, FJSC Under 18’s won 5-3 against the Fillies. It was 2-2 at half time but a determined second half display saw FJSC home with another win. Ellie Brewer and Anna Rutherford scored two goals each and Charlotte Doyle completed the scoring. Sophie Dixon played well in an unaccustomed position in defence.
FJSC Under 15 Jets played well but lost 5-2 to Litherland Remyca.
The match between FJSC Under 14’s United and Crosby Stuart was a thriller from start to finish. Freya Thornton scored twice early on. Crosby Stuart pulled one goal back but just before half time Freya Thornton scored again after being put through from a long clearance from outstanding goalkeeper Evie Stanbrook. In the second half Crosby Stuart made it 3-2 when they were awarded a penalty that was parried by Evie Stanbrook only for a Crosby Stuart player to score from the follow up. FJSC went two goals ahead again when Anna Klaassen scored from a penalty. The 4-2 lead was quickly reduced when Crosby Stuart scored again but time ran out. Every member of the FJSC Under 14’s United team played at there very best and pulled off a 4-3 victory against a very good Crosby Stuart team.
FJSC Under 13’s Real continued their fine form with an impressive 3-1 win over Hesketh Colts. Evie Law, Sienna Fallows and Jess Lynch scored. Goalkeeper Emily Ball made some great saves.
FJSC Under 13 Albion kept up their undefeated record with an 8-1 win over Shevington. Aaliyah Turner scored four, Eva Sears two and there was one goal each for Yasmin Godsall and Abbey Leary.
FJSC Under 12 Hotspurs played well but lost for the first time this season when they succumbed to a very strong Oxton Ladies team. Chloe Price and Lilly Lovelady-Lang scored one goal each in the 5-2 defeat.
FJSC Under 12 Valencia lost 2-1 to Bellefield but played very well in the second half after trailing 2 nil at half time. Girl of the game Izzy Shaw scored and Valencia came close to snatching an equaliser.
FJSC Under 11 Atletico’s team displays are getting better and better each week. Scoring for Atletico in the fixture with Rainford Rangers were Sienna Turner, Amber Fortune, Mae Phillips and Kiera O’Rourke. Girl of the game was defender Eva Meredith.
FJSC Under 10 Rockets produced quick and accurate passing against Marina Sands. Megan Hulse and Hannah Jones scored. It was another pleasing team display.
FJSC Under 10 Tornados were in action against Rainford Rangers. Isabelle Parkinson scored twice and girl of the game was Sophia Barnes. It was another very close match.
Also playing Rainford Rangers were FJSC Under 8 Galaxy. It was a very even match with little between the two teams. Lily Stevens was girl of the game for her accurate passing. The defensive organisation of the team was much better.
FJSC Under 7/8 Bobcats produced a very enthusiastic performance against Ormskirk FC. Heidi Pybis, Skylar Davies, Shanice Jones and Bella Massey scored the Bobcats goals. Sylvie Quirk, Emily Lavin and Ella Bambroffe also played very well.
