Internet and phone fraudsters continue to try and scam vulnerable people in Sefton
Internet and phone fraudsters continue to try and scam vulnerable people in Sefton. In a recent incident in Southport a 74 year old lady received e mails claiming that her computer had been hacked and would only be released for a ransom payment. Fortunately, this lady had good virus software and realised this was a scam. The same lady did however, also receive an automated phone call telling her that her broadband package had been terminated as well, with push button options on her phone to recover the service. Another scam. If you receive a call like this, do not follow any of the instructions, just put the phone down. Be scam aware.
