A tree collapsed on top of a car in Formby due to Storm Callum

A driver narrowly escaped death in tree collapse on Old Town Lane this afternoon. The high winds have caused a tree to collapse onto a car in Formby. There is no access either by car or on foot. A pine tree at the junction of Old Town Lane and Piercefield Road collapsed after the trunk snapped in high winds caused by Storm Callum. Fire and Police are at the scene. Fire crews have closed off the road whilst the tree is cut down and they are warning people to avoid Formby woods for the next few hours.
