Learn Italian and Spanish at Formby High School

Formby High School has three language courses starting soon as part of the University’s outreach activities. They have two stage one courses in Italian and Spanish
Stage 1 is for absolute beginners or for participants with a very limited knowledge of the language. At the end of this 20 week course, participants will be able to carry out relevant tasks such as introducing themselves and others and asking and answering questions about personal details such as where they live, people they know and things they have. By the end of the course students will be able to interact in familiar situations provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help. They will have a basic understanding of significant aspects of the life and culture of the country and intercultural skills necessary for their language proficiency level

And one stage 2 course
Stage 2 is for those with some knowledge of the language, up to the level reached at Stage 1. At the end of this 20 week course, participants will be able to communicate routine tasks and short social exchanges, such as making invitations, giving directions, talking about daily activities or describing people and places. Students will be able to understand simple sentences and some frequently used expressions related to areas of importance. They will develop a better understanding of the relevant culture and society. Students must purchase their own textbook if required.
