Waitrose Formby are phasing out disposable coffee cups to reduce plastic waste
From the 30th July this year, Waitrose Formby have been phasing out disposable takeaway cups to reduce plastic and packaging waste. Make sure to take your own reusable cup with you when you get your myWaitrose tea or coffee.
A spokesperson from Waitrose said: "We’re taking action on takeaway coffee cups. Here at Waitrose we believe in doing everything we can to protect our environment, and that includes reducing the amount of plastic and packaging we use. That’s why we’ve committed to remove disposable takeaway coffee cups from all our stores by Autumn this year."
"It’s worth the effort. Making this change will prevent 52 million takeaway cups a year going to landfill. We’ve already made good progress and removed disposable takeaway cups from 18 stores. And so in the coming weeks, takeaway cups will be gradually removed from our remaining shops (excluding Little Waitrose at Shell). We are still delighted to offer you a free hot drink whenever you shop with us. All we ask is that you bring in your own reusable cup and swipe your myWaitrose card at the checkout, each time you visit."
