Formby High School achieve Platinum Award in the PE Awards
Formby High School has received confirmation that they have achieved the Platinum Award from the School Games Quality Mark. The Platinum School Games Mark award recognises Formby High School’s commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive sport in 2017/18.
The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.
Just this week, the Association for Physical Education (AfPE) awarded FHS with the Quality Mark Distinction for ‘demonstrating outstanding commitment to improvement in Physical Education and Sport’.
The AfPE confirmed that the reasons for a Distinction award are:
Achievement
Outstanding GCSE, A level and BTech Sport results involving a large number of students.
Quality of teaching
Outstanding teaching which has ensured the excellent achievement in examinations, the core programme and school teams
Curriculum provision
An excellent curriculum and extra curriculum programme has been developed to engage all students which enables them to achieve high standards in all areas.
An outstanding leadership programme has been developed.
Leadership and management
The Head of Department is excellent. This has resulted in the department being strength of the school.
The Headteacher is a great advocate for the subject and has an ethos of providing high quality ‘Sport for All’.
Congratulations to all the students, staff, parents, sports leaders and spectators for giving your energy, time, commitment and evident passion for sport – you all play a huge part in the team recognition the school has received.
