The third annual Formby Cup took place at Formby Play 3G last week.
Girls and boys from five local schools, Redgate Primary, Our Lady of Compassion, St Luke's Church of England Primary School and Trinity Saint Peter’s C of E Primary School competed for the Hugh McAuley Football Academy Formby Cup.
The winning boys team was St Jerome’s with St Luke’s girls beating Redgate Primary 4-5 in an exciting final. Speaking about the competition, Hugh McAuley said: “We work with many of these schools throughout the academic year delivering after-school clubs, as well as running holiday camps, it’s great to be able to build on the childrens’ passion and enthusiasm for the game.
“Each year, we enjoy this opportunity to bring pupils from these schools together, enjoying football and developing their skills. The standard this year was so high, and the matches were great to watch.”
The first of Hugh’s summer camps will take place between July 30 and Aug 2 at Redgate Primary School, Formby.
