Despite the recent wintry weather, Spring is making itself felt at National Trust Formby and the Summer is just around the corner. Volunteer groups have been clearing the boardwalk and cutting back undergrowth while the Rangers have been out mending gates and fences.
A spokesperson from National Trust Formby said: "We are delighted to welcome the RNLI lifeguards who will be present on the beach at busy times over the coming months to provide a safe environment for beach visitors at busy times."
"From Friday 30th March (Good Friday) our new parking arrangements will begin at Lifeboat Road from 10am to 4pm. National Trust members will continue to park for free at both Formby carparks. At Lifeboat Road non-members will be asked to pay £4.50 for a day ticket, as a contribution towards the care and maintenance of this remarkable area."
If you are interested in gaining access to over 500 National Trust sites, and want to support the conservation and public access work of the Trust, staff will be available at Victoria Road and Lifeboat Road to tell you more. And when you join up at Formby, your membership money stays at Formby so you will be directly contributing to the place you love. Membership costs from £5.75/month for an individual, up to £10.00/month for a two adult family.
National Trust took over the land at Lifeboat Road in Formby last year from Sefton Council. The National Trust’s aim is being to ‘continue to ensure that the current and future generations can enjoy everything that makes this place so exceptional’.
The land transfer lay October virtually doubled the National Trust Formby estate, bringing it to 414 hectares (1023 acres).
