Good Friday Walk of Witness and Passion Play comes to Formby
Churches Together's popular walk of witness and passion play will again be coming to Formby this Friday 30th March. About 500 people from local churches gather outside Boots in Chapel Lane at 11 a.m. and walk to Formby Pool Gardens. The procession will be led by the cast of the Passion play and accompanied by music and people carrying crosses. It is a reminder of the Easter Story. Rev Mark Savage, who has recently joined Formby Elim Church will lead the service and reflection.
The passion play tells the story of Easter from the perspective of one of the women following Jesus. The theme this year is about seeing the good within each other and not judging others when faced with self interest and jealousy. With evocative music, drama and action it is a moving reminder of the events that started the Christian faith nearly 2,000 years ago.
Churches Together in Formby Altcar and Hightown has been building trust and understanding across the Christian Churches for over 45 years finding ways to worship, study, witness to and serve the local community. The chairmanship this year is from St Stephen’s Church, Hightown.
