St Joseph's in Formby are looking for your help with stalls for annual 1k Sensory Walk

St Joseph's and Fernley Resource Centre on Blundell Avenue in Freshfield are holding their second annual Sensory 1K Walk and need your help.

The walk is on May 18th 2018 for people with disabilities and also those that communicate on a sensory basis.

A spokesperson from the centre said: "The walk will involve different 'stations' around our grounds and National Trust area. The stations are tailored to work the five senses and more. By working in a sensory way helps the people that we support, to communicate and take an active role in the world around them."

"Our theme this year is 'Going to the Circus'. We do need some help with this and we're hoping our local community will really come out for us and donate their time/services as we are a charity on very limited funds. Please help us make this day special for the people we support!"

Please be aware this is an outdoor event, it is a weekday and times are still to be confirmed.

They are looking for those people who:

*Have experience in circus/variety acts

*Games i.e. coconut shy

*Traditional Morris dancers (sorry not the troupe kind)

*Musical carousel (similar to the gentleman who is always at Dickensian day/Christmas Lights switch on and usually near Barclays?)

"We understand this is a big ask and any appropriate help will be very much appreciated. Thankyou."

Please send any messages of offer of services/time/products to info@formbybubble.com

We will pass your details to St. Josephs

We work mainly for people with learning disabilities, and also older people. We challenge people to strive for greater independence, and for richer interaction with the people and the world around them. We support people with a wide range of support and care needs, including some people with complex needs arising from a range of disabilities and health conditions, including mental health issues.

Our vision is that people lead life to the full, with their dignity respected, independence supported, and uniqueness valued.

We believe that each person must be at the centre of their world, and of the support and care they may require to lead life to the full in their own way.

We currently work in three parts of the UK: Greater London, Liverpool and Merseyside, and Brighton and Hove. Services offered include: supported living, care homes, community support, day activities, and nursing care (for older people). We support around 370 people, and employ around 390 staff (whole time equivalent).

We are a successful not-for-profit enterprise, rooted in the long history and values of an international women’s Catholic Congregation, the Poor Servants of the Mother of God, now a registered charity. We celebrate difference, and we work for, and employ, people of any faith or none.

We are committed to being a great employer, and to developing and training our staff. We believe that everyone has gifts they may use for the benefit of others. Many staff roles are physically or emotionally demanding, but we aim to ensure that our staff have the space and opportunity to offer something of themselves to the people they support.

In 2017 we were awarded the Investors in People Silver Accreditation.
