The Mayor of Sefton joined volunteers on Christmas Day at the Formby Luncheon Club
Each Christmas, Councillor Catie Page and Formby Tesco community team, along with volunteers, organise a Christmas dinner in Formby for anyone that would otherwise be on their own on Christmas Day.
This year was a great success with dozens of Christmas meals served in a wonderful atmosphere at the Formby Luncheon Club. The Mayor of Sefton, Councillor Dave Robinson joined the volunteers to serve drinks and welcome guests at 12noon on Christmas Day.
Cllr Catie Page and the Formby Hub said: "A massive 'Thankyou' to all the wonderful volunteers, who worked so hard to put together this fantastic Christmas day lunch. From peeling veg, setting up the room, driving guests, cooking, clearing up, serving and Carol and Steve Richards for the entertainment."
"We would also like to thank The Guides and Redgate school for making calendars and cards for each guest. Coop funeral care for wine and drinks, Cassidy's for providing fruit and table decorations, Cathy’s tea room, Staff of Savers for raffle prizes and also to the Formby Bubble with their help in advertising the event."
"This couldn’t have happened without the amazing support from Nikki Benson, community leader and Gary of Tesco Formby and Olive Helmans from the luncheon club. The guests have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had a very happy Christmas Day. Well done everyone!"
