Formby plant pot burglar is wanted again by Merseyside Police
Merseyside Police is appealing for help in tracing a man from Liverpool who is wanted on recall to prison. The same man that knocked himself out whilst escaping a Formby burglary in 2010. Officers would like to speak to Gerard Sanders, 34, whose last known address was Utting Avenue, Anfield, in connection with a burglary at a house in Birkdale in August 2017. He has also been recalled to prison for failing to comply with the terms of his license. Sanders has been described as white, of slim build, 6ft 2in tall, with light brown hair and blue eyes.
The notorious offender is well known for once knocking himself out on a plant pot after jumping out of a window in Formby.
In 2010, a 64-year-old Formby man was weeding his front garden when a neighbour spotted a man jumping over a back fence and entering the back of the home in Andrew’s Close. After being alerted, the 64-year-old went back into his house and up the stairs to search for the intruder, then, Gerard Sanders decided to escape by leaping from the bedroom window. Gerard Sanders was then discovered lying on the driveway, and the emergency services were immediately contacted.
Sanders, who has a lengthy criminal record, woke up to find himself surrounded by police officers and was arrested at the scene before spending the night in hospital. He later pleaded guilty to attempted burglary and burglary.
Sanders, most recently of Utting Avenue, Anfeild, was jailed for 40 months at Liverpool Crown Court in December 2015 in relation to a various burglary offences, including one in Cromer Road, Birkdale.
