Police issue a warning after burglaries in Formby and Ainsdale

Merseyside Police have warned people about a number of burglaries taking place in Formby over the few weeks.
Officers say that during the past fortnight, burglaries or attempted burglaries have taken place in the following locations: Lytles Close (shed), Timms Lane (garage), Gores Lane and Barton Heys Road in Formby. Also in Ainsdale, Sambourn Road and Prestbury Avenue.
In one attempted burglary the house alarm was activated preventing an actual burglary from taking place. In another, thieves stole the occupants’ car keys and vehicle.
A police spokesman said: “Remember that an alarm system requires regular maintenance. One of the main reasons for false alarm activations is due to worn-out batteries.
“Many insurance companies require a yearly check on alarms, failing to comply may result in your insurance being invalid.”
