Jordan Spieth, winner of The Open 2017 dined at Formby restaurant Shantii
The Open champion 2017, Jordan Spieth made a visit to one of Formby's most popular restaurants, The Shantii just days before the tournament.
With its fabulous range of fine Indian dining, it's easy to see why Shantii is so popular with stars who live in Merseyside or visit. If you eat at Shantii, you could find yourself sitting on the next table to footballers, soap stars or comedians.
Owner Ali said: "Open champion Jordan Spieth called in for a curry on a night before he stepped out at Royal Birkdale. I really do think my curry
helped Jordan win the Open."
Shantii is a slick and modern Indian restaurant in Formby that's been open for 13 years, although owner Ali, has been in the Formby area for nearly 20 years. It's fully air-conditioned, has full disabled access and is open seven nights a week and until midnight at weekends.
The menu offers all the traditional Indian favourites plus some specialities like duck, monkfish, salmon and red snapper. Part of the menu now has a ˜healthy options' section with various curries on a points system. There is a Sunday buffet and various special offers for early in the week. They also offer a range of authentic Indian wines.
The Open champion dined on Lamb Mossaka – a particular favourite at Shantii.
If you fancy mixing with the stars, give Shantii a call to try one of their vast list of tempting dishes and exclusive new dishes, such as Nagga Zee, which can be made searingly spicy or toned down. There are also mild dishes like Korma and Passanda. All curries are gluten free and there are vegetarian options.
Shantii won both Customer Excellence and Best Chef awards in 2010. TripAdvisor gives a Shantii a 'Certificate of Excellence' which means it is a restaurant that consistently earns great reviews from travellers. Gift vouchers are also available for purchase.
You can find Shantii at 124a Church Road. Take a look at their website: www.shantii-formby.co.uk
