Police called to a suspected dead body near Formby beach
Merseyside Police were called to an incident at Fisherman's Path on Thursday 13th July at approximately 11:30pm to the possible sighting of a dead body laying alongside the pathway towards the beach.
The security guard for Network Rail who was on duty at the Fishermans Path crossing said: "I heard a woman screaming and shouting, quite hysterically, I ran out to see what was happening and saw a woman and man running towards me, the woman was screaming, "there's a dead body", they jumped over the crossing and I rang the Police."
"When the Police turned up, they went off to find the suspected dead body."
It turns out that the body was in fact a man, very much alive and kicking who was sleeping rough inside a see-through plastic body bag. He was in a deep sleep and due to him being in a plastic bag, the Formby residents had thought the worst.
The man went on to show the police his identification and the Police left the scene after asking the man to move away from the pathway so as not to scare anyone else!
