There were a series of meetings at Formby's Gild Hall regarding the future of Freshfield Surgery. A number of different options were discussed. However, there was an obvious strength of feeling from the attendees that they wished to keep Freshfield Surgery open. Unfortunately it was abundantly clear that NHS England favoured the option of closing the surgery. The listening exercise finishes at 5pm on Friday May 12th. Because of the forthcoming General Election the findings of these meetings cannot be released until after June 8th.
So there is still a short time to send letters, email freshfieldpractice@h2a.global or call Freephone 0800 044 8169.
Patients at other surgeries are already reporting difficulties in obtaining appointments. There are nearly 2,700 patients registered at Freshfield Surgery. If these patients were dispersed into the surgeries in Formby Village it would certainly increase competition for appointments. Reducing GP capacity & adding burden to the existing surgeries seems short-sighted especially at a time when the population of Formby is growing. The effects of a surgery closure would be felt by everyone.
The petition at www.change.org/p/freshfield-surgery-is-under-threat has now reached 1800 signatures (including paper petition). Please add your name & hopefully NHS England will take notice and preserve GP services in Freshfield.
Please help with this campaign to keep the surgery open
