Calls for protests against OVH threat to George Drive Woods grows
Residents of Ainsdale have been protesting for months to save the woodland in Ainsdale from being cut down on Tuesday 25th April.
Cath Regan, a regular contributor to Formby Bubble has asked for your support, Cath said: "Can I ask for support from Formby residents to help us to stage a peaceful protest tomorrow and/or Tuesday morning? We need bodies to show support."
George Drive residents have received notice that One Vision Housing (OVH) are to start destroying trees this week.
This appalling news has devastated residents and campaigners. Work was only believed to be set to have started in August, when most of the bird nesting had diminished.
The lovely woods here are now full of nesting birds yet this seems to count for NOTHING with this One Vision. Many birds nests are now in progress within the George Drive woodlands. A wonderful long-tailed tit was discovered recently in the woods. It's an offence to 'intentionally or recklessly disturb' nesting birds under UK Wildlife law.
Cath Regan visited the woods and the amount of birds singing was just beautiful as you can hear in their short video...
All of these beautiful birds are nesting right now in the woods that are about to be destroyed on Tuesday
Above: The laws says that birds nests are protected, yet OVH are sending in the chain saws this week.

Even at this late stage we are STILL pushing politicians to get involved. Residents and campaigners have been given mixed messages and the entire situation is highly ambiguous.
Therefore, if you are in support of the campaign to save the Ainsdale woodlands from OVH then please let us know if 'you' know anything that the rest of the community should know about. People Power can and often does make a difference, so please do spread the word.
The main thing is to impress that we need bodies to join us in a peaceful protest tomorrow, Monday 24th April and/or Tuesday 25th April morning. People can contact Cath or Pat by email for information at: reganclan@hotmail.com Pat Regan © http://pat-regan.blogspot.co.uk/
