Formby Pool supports our local community and welcomes Apprentices
Formby Pool Trust is committed to supporting the local community and one of the most recent initiatives that the Trust has put in place is the Apprenticeship Programme. We have successfully offered apprenticeship opportunities to two of our local young adults, and they have progressed magnificently towards their goal of becoming fully qualified Gym Instructors.
We want to build upon this success and will be offering two types of apprenticeships this autumn:-
Leisure Aquatic………Fully qualified Swim Teacher & Lifeguard (Essential requirement able to swim)
Gym………………………Fully qualified Gym Instructor
It is an ideal prospect for young adults who are about to leave education this year. To meet the essential criteria, you simply need to be a young adult over the age of 16, looking for a career opportunity in these areas. Formby Pool has now been open for ten years - and is a superb facility for the Formby village. Nearly 2,000 children take part in the swim school and many enjoy a swim in the 25-metre main pool or in the 12-metre learner pool. Members of the Wellness Suite benefit from personal training from the qualified gym instructors and the fitness classes are very popular. As well as a healthy and happy lifestyle people enjoy light refreshments in our café, which leads onto the children's creative play area and gardens.
Formby Pool is overseen by a 3-way partnership - Formby Land Trust, Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council and Formby Pool Trust working together to ensure that it provides what local people want and need. A charity in its own right, a Board of Trustees meeting regularly to ensure that the facility runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible. A new ten-year lease has recently been signed giving all parties the confidence to move forward with the 5 year Strategy which will assure growth and sustainability of the facility. It also gives the Trust the opportunity to engage with other charities, agencies and activities. Thus moving towards being "The Heart of the Village".
