Boy charged after attempted theft of a Golf Buggy in Formby after lighting fires in the woods

A 16-year-old boy was arrested after an attempted theft of a golf buggy in Formby.
A spokesman from Merseyside Police said: "Merseyside Police can confirm that a youth has been arrested and charged after the attempted theft of a golf buggy in Formby on Sunday, 16 April." "At around 6.25pm, a report was received of some fires at woods close to Formby Golf Club on Victoria Road. Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) attended and extinguished the fire. A 16-year-old boy from Kirkby was found nearby and arrested on suspicion of attempted theft."
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire & Rescue said: "At 6:25pm on Sunday 16th April 2017, Merseyside Fire & Rescue received a call about a fire at the National Trust on Victoria Road Formby. We arrived with one appliance at the scene. Fire crews walked into the woods to extinguish the fires which were half a kilometre from the pay booth. The fires were put out pretty quickly and made safe by 6:50pm."
The boy, who was not working alone was also seen lighting the fires in the woods prior to attempting the theft of the buggy.
The boy has been charged and will appear at Sefton Youth Bail Court on 4th May.
