Formby residents were wowed on Tuesday 4th April around 4:20pm in the afternoon, when a huge aircraft flew over our Bubble twice but, at a really low level.
This amazing photo was taken by Debbie Streeter in the squirrel reserve (National Trust) in Formby. Debbie said: "It came around twice and seemed to fly through the trees, it kept turning on one side then the other, I don't know anything about planes but, it was scary being under it!"
An RAF Spokesman confirmed: "This was an RAF Atlas A400M from RAF Brize Norton on a routine training sortie."
Hundreds of residents spoke to Formby Bubble saying how fantastic it was and they loved it! Here are a few comments...
Darryn Gaudie said: " I watched it bank hard over above Shorrocks Hill and Firwood, seriously impressive sight!"
Helen Noor-Amina Sahgal: "I was shocked when it came low over our house. We were awed."
Ian Jackson said: "That was the A400 that you all saw. Wish I'd seen it as well - not unusual to see transport types over the dunes. Herky's did practice na runs over Altcar camp a couple of times a year using NoE - Nap of the Earth tactics, that's about 50ft off the deck!!
Amanda Norton said: "I saw it when I was standing in Freshfield Road! It was amazing, so loud, big and low!"
