Formby United Reformed Church held a Fairtrade Coffee Morning
A Fairtrade Coffee Morning was held at Formby United Reformed Church, on Church Road.
Fairtrade Fortnight was celebrated at the regular Wednesday Coffee Morning held at Formby United Reformed Church on Church Road, on the 1st March 2017.
A spokesperson from the Church said: "Fairtrade Tea, Coffee, Bananas and samples of chocolate were all provided by the Local Formby Co-op (on Queens Road) and were enjoyed by all."
Fairtrade has worked for years to benefit small-scale farmers and workers across the globe, who are often marginalised; through trade rather than aid. The key focus of Fairtrade is on achieving fair prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers. Fairtrade have actively supported the development of sustainable, farming and worker communities that have more control over their futures and work to very high standards to protect the environment in which they live and work. In real terms, Fair Trade has meant that there is now also investment in education, transport, healthcare, sanitation and best practices in communities that would otherwise have remained in poverty.
To highlight the important work and to celebrate the positive, sustainable change Fairtrade has generated for millions of farmers and workers across the world in recent years, Change Agents UK are calling on the local community of Formby to show their support and visit the Fair Trade Coffee and Cake Mornings.
