Formby Luncheon Club is a Hidden Gem for our Older Community
FORMBY LUNCHEON CLUB in Rosemary Lane now has vacancies and can welcome new members. The Club is a major asset to the Formby Community because it helps older people, who might otherwise feel lonely, to meet new friends over lunch.
The club has operated continuously for over 50 years and is a cheerful, sociable venue and provides a hearty home-cooked lunch on four days a week from Tuesday to Friday.
Members must be over 60 years of age and be prepared to have lunch on at least one day per week.
There is a small annual membership fee and the cost of a two course lunch with tea or coffee is currently £3.50 per day.
For an additional small charge, less mobile members can be collected by our community buses and transported to and from their home.
In addition to the main purpose of the Club, every week, we hold chair-based exercises on a Tuesday afternoon with a professional trainer, Alison Moore.
We also organise a fortnightly bus trip to Tesco, Formby.
On five Saturdays per year, the club is open to the public for a good breakfast. Called “The Breakfast Break” information on these is available on noticeboards in and outside the club.
‘Hanging Baskets’ and containers, made by ex-Lions are now sold from the Club forecourt in May and October.
The club premises hosts many other activities, amongst them - Conquest Art, Friends of Alzheimers, Yoga, National Women’s Group, Lucy’s Art, Slimming World, Probus and more. TO APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP, PLEASE CALL JACKIE ON 01704 872415. To hire the venue or a bus call Joan on 01704 877311.
The club is also a FORMBY HUB partner and can provide details and advice on activities and support groups throughout Formby. We are also an approved supplier of Food Bank Vouchers.
