Thousands expected at Formby Christmas Lights switch on tomorrow - Sunday 27th November

Formby Christmas lights switch on event takes place on Sunday, 27th November. Our beautiful Christmas Tree is sat waiting for it's lights on Chapel Lane.

There will be hot food and drink available from a number of vendors throughout the day. The festivities start about noon with fairground rides, Christmas stalls, live music, lots of hot food vendors. We are delighted to have former Brookside child star Ray Quinn switching on the lights at 5:30pm. Ray is a great vocalist too, and was runner up to Leona Lewis when she won X-Factor and he was the 2014 winner of Dancing on Ice! Festive fun and yuletide entertainment for the whole family.

Our Christmas Tree just waiting for the switch on

The Formby Christmas Light switch on is a very popular event with over 6,000 people descending on last years festivities. Sky TV's Neil Newton and Sandgrounder's Breakfast Show host will be hosting the days events with Sandgrounder Radio Southport. Steven Hall from Britain's Got Talent will be on stage thrilling the audience with his class act.

Unfortunately this year,we don't think that Frosty or a tree will be in place on the roundabout but, it is being looked into and trying to sort out. There will be road closures as indicated below.

The itinerary for the day is: 7am: - Road closure at chapel lane roundabout, Brows lane/ Rosemary lane and elbow lane. 12pm: - Christmas market stalls, fairground rides etc. 1pm: - Live entertainment from the main stage. 5:30pm: - Switch-On. 7pm: - Close.

Cllr Denise Dutton has managed to sort out FREE parking in Sumner Road car park just for the event from 2pm. Hoods will be placed over the meters to prevent payments. Fantastic!

Formby Christmas Lights have today released the full line-up on their Facebook page, this is what they have said:
