Join CITiZAN at Hightown Submerged Forest to record it's prehistoric past.

CITiZAN, the community archaeology network will be at the submerged forest at Hightown on Saturday and Sunday, September 24th and 25th, to record what remains of the site - and they want your help.
The submerged forest on the southern banks of the Alt estuary is one of the most fascinating - and rarely visited - of our archaeological treasures, and dates back thousands of years.
It is possible to see the imprints of pine branches here that look like they were only dropped onto the shore a few months ago, yet are incredibly old and well-preserved.
The two day event will consist of training in non-intrusive archaeological techniques and no previous experience is necessary.
It will be a great opportunity to learn more about this incredible place, and discover more about how to record features like this.
The event is free, but booking is essential -
