New Multi-Use Games Area to be installed at Duke Street Park
Residents in Formby are set to enjoy better facilities at Duke Street Park with improvement works now underway.
Sefton Council’s contractors, Wicksteed Leisure LTD, started work on Wednesday, August 17 and are expected to be on site for the next few weeks.
The works, part of a wider plan created through consultation with residents, will see a new multi-use games area created on one of the existing tennis courts, complete with rebound fencing. Other improvements include a bit of TLC and a fresh spray of acrylic paint on the two adjacent tennis courts.
Cllr Ian Moncur, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “I am delighted that the improvement works are now underway.
“We want to make sure that residents have the best possible facilities available to them and these improvements will enhance the offering at Duke Street Park.
“I look forward to visiting the park when the work is complete.”
A voluntary Friends of Group was recently set up to help support the park and is made up of local community members, Councillors and garden volunteers. The group is currently seeking new members and meets once a month at Formby Library, for more information contact the Parks team on 0151 934 2345.
