Formby Pool’s Creative Play Area Is Blooming
Looking for somewhere to have a cuppa, a little bite to eat and know that your children will be happy, safe and enjoying themselves playing, as you relax?
Then, Formby Pool’s Creative Play area planted last year is blooming. Plants, shrubs and bushes are becoming established giving an imaginative and enjoyable space for play and exploration.
Situated opposite the café patio, the Creative Play area is safe from the road, but in sight of the outdoor seating. The popularity for this area is increasing as the children relax and their imagination takes over.
The original idea for the Creative Play area was initiated in 2011, when the Freshfield Foundation carried out a research project to re-imagine and re-assess the current needs of the Formby community in relation to the superb leisure facility that had been opened in 2007. Time was taken to reflect upon what had been achieved and to look at the needs of Formby and the local community.
Many suggestions were made, with a number of proposals proving to be not only popular with those consulted, but reachable and feasible projects. The
Creative Play area was one such area, and after many months of negotiations
and consultation, a plan was agreed that would not only be enjoyed by our
children but enhance our landscape gardens surrounding the pool itself.
Last year, the final steps were taken to complete the area, fences were
removed and our children free to enjoy their own special and very individual space.
