Formby Open Gardens was a great success

This year, Formby Open Gardens was a great success! Partly down to the weather being such a lovely sunny day and partly to all the people who helped to promote this great event.
Sheila Clements Macdonald, who organises everything said: "What a difference the weather makes! Last year the heavens opened and we were waterlogged. A decent turnout and we raised £400 plus for Woodlands Hospice. This year the sun shone and people came in their droves! At the last count, we have raised £1,100 for Blind Veterans UK. I was still selling tickets at 3:30pm and the gardens closed at 4.00pm. We may have to extend opening times next year!"
Sheila would like to thank everyone who helped by putting up posters in various shops in the village, Paul and Sue at Aughton News on Church Road who sold tickets for the event and had to have replenishments on Sunday! Ann and Jenny at the Kitchen, who sold tickets for them, also, everyone who helped selling cream teas and Tesco Formby for providing Scones Jam and Cream.
The gardens were all beautiful in many different ways. Thankyou to everyone who opened their Gardens for this event, without you, there would be no event.
Sheila had a little something to say about everyone's garden:
"Thanks to Peter from Brewery Lane who has the most beautiful vibrant colourful garden, and perfect grass!"
"Thanks to Ann in Rosemary Lane, who's garden is just so interesting, spot your zodiac sign hiding there, you might also find a fairy hiding!"
"Thanks to Val on Liverpool Road, who has the most beautiful natural cottage garden. The size that I would love!"
"Thanks to Jenny in Davenham Road who's garden is just jaw droppingly georgeous! I would never be in the house if I had it! Finally, there is mine...as every gardener knows, is just theirs, evolving, changing as with the seasons."
Sheila went on to say: "I would like to thank also, the allotment holders, from Hoggshill Lane and Altcar Road, who were very kind and welcoming to everyone. All in all, a wonderful time was had by everyone and although it's a lot of hard work, its lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves. Thank you."
