Formby Library Garden is officially opened

On Thursday 21st July, Formby Parish Council invited everyone to be present for the formal opening of the new community garden at the rear of the library. Around sixty residents attended and were joined by representatives of Sefton Council who worked in co-operation with the Parish Council to make the project happen.
In his speech, Chair of the Parish Council, Bob McCann, thanked all the individuals who had been involved with the project which had taken sixteen months from concept to completion. In particular Bob thanked John Mathias of local company - The Hidden Garden, for his initial concept ideas and plans and also Sefton parks and gardens for their project management.

The "Secret Garden" has been designed and completed with consultation of neighbouring residents who were reassured that it was not going to be a children's playground. Bob said: "The whole design concept is that of a peaceful place with different zones where people can meet up, have a coffee, read or use the free Wi-Fi. There is a secluded area for reading, a children's story telling area, a wildflower Meadow and seating for several adults and children. This space is a framework to be developed, and as time goes on, the educational facility will be enhanced with Qcard learning and information about nature, insects, birds and wildlife."
Bob went on to say: "I hope this project will benefit not only the people of Formby but, that it will also be visited by children and residents from across the borough. By the Parish Council working alongside residents, local businesses and in coordination with Sefton we can achieve more projects like this that will benefit and enhance our area."
