SUNDOG SNUBS SALES SPEAK! Formby design company’s rise and rise

A Formby company chalked up its 6000th design job this week - having never made a sales pitch in its nine year existence.
Sundog Creative, based in Ryeground Lane, provides a full range of design services for print, advertising, exhibition and promotional materials. Clients include United Utilities, North West Air Ambulance, Electricity North West, The Land Trust and schools across the region.
Sundog was launched by Formby man Robin Maryon in 2007 after he was made redundant. And since then the company has gone from strength to strength.
Robin said: “We have worked hard to retain a loyal customer base. Our top three clients have worked with us since the very beginning of Sundog. New work which comes in is almost always through word of mouth or recommendations.
“We are quite proud to have never made a sales call ever!”
Robin is best known for designing the famous “Above us only sky” logo for Liverpool John Lennon Airport while he worked for a Liverpool creative agency.
Recently his Sundog company landed its biggest job to date - creating visuals which will appear on 1.9 million advice leaflets for water company United Utilities. Robin added: “When I was made redundant it was sink or swim. I wanted to start up my own design business and just had to get on with making it work. Nine years on and we are still here and chalking up our 6000th design job.” More information at www.sundogcreative.co.uk
