Man assaulted 7 people at wedding reception in Formby Hall on Friday.
Merseyside Police can confirm that a 48-year-old man from Kirkby has been detained under the Mental Health Act having been arrested on suspicion of assault during an incident at a wedding reception at Formby Hall on Friday night. Patrols had been called to the hall on Southport Old Road at 10.15pm following reports that a man had assaulted several male and female guests and a member of staff. On arrival officers found the man detained by staff and he was arrested on suspicious of common assault against three people and actual bodily harm against four people. He was taken to Southport General Hospital for treatment to a minor facial injury suffered during the incident.
He was then later assessed as being unfit for custody due to concerns about his mental health and transferred to a specialist hospital for further treatment. Police enquiries remain on-going at this time.
