Former LFC coach launches Formby Cup

Former Liverpool FC Youth and Reserve Team Coach, Hugh McAuley’s football academy held its first cup competition at Formby Play 3G last week.
Girls and boys from three local schools, Our Lady of Compassion, St Luke's Church of England Primary School and Trinity Saint Peter’s C of E Primary School competed for the HMFA cup.

Hugh, who hopes to make the cup an annual event in Formby, said: “We work with each of these schools throughout the academic year as well as running holiday camps, we wanted to build on the passion and enthusiasm for the game.
“This is a great opportunity to bring pupils from these schools together, enjoying football and developing their skills. The feedback from teachers, parents and the children has been great, so we’re looking at building on last week’s success and make it an annual event.”
The first of Hugh’s summer camps will take place between July 25th and 28th at Redgate Primary School, Formby.
