Judging Sefton’s Blooms
Judges will be in Sefton in the coming weeks as part of the prestigious North West In Bloom and Britain in Bloom competitions.
They will be at various locations across the borough over four days to see the excellent efforts made by local Steering Groups, volunteers and various community organisations by making Sefton sparkle.
The groups, with the help from Sefton Council, have all got involved to enhance many areas across the borough which will be entered into the Neighbourhood categories as part of the annual competition.
As well as horticultural achievement, the judges will also be looking at 'community involvement' and 'environmental responsibility' when making their final decisions.
The results for the North West In Bloom will be announced in Autumn at the NWiB Awards.
The visiting schedule by the judges is as follows:
July 12: Ainsdale in Bloom & Southport in Bloom
July 13: Crosby & Waterloo in Bloom
July 14: Maghull in Bloom & Melling in Bloom
July 15: ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ entries
Southport is also a finalist in this year’s Britain in Bloom and they will be gearing up for the judging on August 5.
Cllr Ian Moncur, Sefton Council's Cabinet Member Health and Wellbeing, said: "During July, the judges will be visiting many different parts of the borough seeing at first hand all the hard work that has taken place for the prestigious competition.
"As ever it is very pleasing to see so many different community groups, volunteers and In Bloom Steering Groups getting involved to really make Sefton shine.
"The various groups and volunteers’ work tirelessly to attract funding and support from the local community, businesses’ and other local organisations in order to get all the bids looking fantastic.
"In previous years we have made a real effort to impress the judges while they tour the borough and I am sure this year will be no different."
