Woman air-lifted to hospital after a fall from her horse on Formby beach

At approximately 3pm this afternoon, a call was made to the emergency services after a woman fell from her horse as she was riding on Formby beach. Due to the location of the accident, the North West Air Ambulance was also called.
The woman, who was 51 years old was on a day trip with her 17 year old daughter, Amelia and their two beautiful horses. They were taking time out on their own from Clitheroe.
Amelia said: "We had just gone into a canter, I was behind my mum and next minute, she just seemed to fall sideways off the saddle and onto the sand. She was unconscious and it was scary. Luckily for me, two first-aiders were close by and ran over to help."
The woman was air lifted to Southport hospital. Amelia said thanks to everyone that helped her in what was a very frightening situation in a place that she does not know.
The woman is thought to be in a stable condition suffering a back injury.
