Exclusive Charity Art Preview Evening

At the end of the 18th century Henry Blundell of Ince Blundell Hall amassed a spectacular collection of antique sculpture to rival that of the British Museum. He housed the collection is a specially built classical temple as well as a scaled down replica of the Pantheon in Rome.

The historical significance of the collection is invaluable, ranging from highly characterful Roman portraits to gods and goddesses and elaborate funerary sculpture. The collection has remained virtually intact and this exhibition brings together some of its outstanding highlights, offering an insight into the mind of one of the major collectors and connoisseurs of the period.

The story of Henry Blundell’s creation of the collection and the magnificent setting in which he housed it is a fascinating one and brings to life a powerful and driven personality who played a major role in the art market of the time.

This year Queenscourt Hospice celebrates 25 years of providing care for thousands of local people and their families. To help mark this special year they have organised an exclusive charity preview evening of The Ince Blundell Treasures of the Grand Tour Exhibition.

The event which has kindly been sponsored by Johnson’s Toyota Southport, will take place at The Atkinson on Lord Street in Southport on Friday 10th June.

Guests will enjoy a sparkling drinks reception, canapés, and music followed by an exclusive guided tour of the exhibition with Stephen Whittle, Principal Manager of the Museum and Art Gallery.

The exhibition has never been shown before so this event which is before the exhibition opens to the public means that our guests will be amongst the very first to experience it.

Queenscourt Hospice opened its doors in 1991 and has provided world leading palliative care ever since. Without the generosity of the Southport, Formby and West Lancashire community during this time we wouldn’t have achieved so much.

As the need for our services has increased so has the amazing support given to us by the local community. This relationship has been key to the growth of the hospice - in our 25th year; we are here for and because of the community.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to be one of the first to see this treasured collection. Together we can celebrate Queenscourt’s Silver Jubilee and all proceeds will help to fund vital care in your local community.

If you are interested in attending then tickets are £20 each and are available either from Fundraising on 01704 517420 or online at fundraising@queenscourt.org.uk
