Formby man, Scott Montgomery has left for the London Marathon VLM 2016.

Scott is running in six marathons this year as part of his 1,000 mile challenge. Scott has already completed the Liverpool half marathon last month and the Manchester marathon on 10th April, both of which he ran for the Roy Castle appeal. He said: "Thanks to everyone that donated, I completed the Manchester marathon in 3hr 58mins achieving 7 PBs along the way."
He is looking forward to the Virgin London Marathon tomorrow - Sunday 24th April which he is doing in memory of his aunt Christine, who lost her fight to lung cancer in January last year. Scott said: "Although I wish we could bring her back, we can't but, if I can help change tomorrow and help others beat cancer then today, I choose to run. Every penny raised goes to support Roy Castle Lung Foundation."
Scott went on to say: "I set myself a goal to do this last year in her memory. I have raised over £1,000 to help others with lung cancer but, want to reach my target of £2,000."
Scott will continue his running with the Liverpool Rock 'n Roll marathon on 29th May and the Rock 'n Roll marathon in Dublin on 7th August, both for Teenage Cancer Trust, supporting Alder Hey Unit.
His 1,000 mile challenge then takes him to the Great North Run on 11th September for the Steps charity which supports kids with lower limb problems.
Scotts daughter Olivia, who is just 14 months old has hip displacia and will be in a cast for 8 months. Scott said: "I am running to help other kids like Olivia, fingers crossed, she will be out of her cast by July. I would like to thank everyone for all their support with my runs."
