Formby Junior Sports Club results and Frank's Report

FRANK'S WEEKLY REPORT - 18th April, 2016

It is very pleasing to see the improvement that many of Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams have made during the season. This week we are going to focus on the efforts of four teams. All these teams have made excellent progress through dedication, loyalty to the team when the going has got tough and the development of very good team spirit. The Representative teams in question have had many “ups and downs” but continued steady improvement is now beginning to show with some very encouraging results. Formby Junior Sports Club Under 14 Girls’ have gained two successive victories in the West Lancs League during the last few days. The midweek 4 nil away win over fifth placed Fillies from Netherton was probably the team’s best display of the season. Hannah Fraser, Ellie Brewer, Sophie Dixon and Lily Hamilton all scored one goal each. Goalkeeper Olivia Mulvey made some excellent saves and Nanci Farley and Megan Houston were dominant in defence. Captain Nina Macy returned after a lengthy injury and led by example and Grace Ormesher had her best match since joining FJSC. The good form continued for the Under 14’s last Sunday with a 2-1 win at Euxton Villa. Charlotte Doyle scored both goals including a last minute winner. FJSC Under 13 Girls are also finishing the season well. Despite finally losing 1 nil at Town Green, the Under 13’s produced a classy display and were extremely unlucky not to score on numerous occasions. Shots from Molly Graham and Lily Hamilton struck the Town Green woodwork and there were near misses galore. The FJSC team, playing with a girl short, finally conceded a goal with only five minutes remaining. Central defender Lauren Carr was player of the match. A hat-trick each from girl of the match Penny Fletcher and winger Lily Hamilton helped FJSC Under 13’s to gain a 6 nil win against Hesketh Colts at the weekend. It was another very good result for the team particularly as last season Hesketh Colts were League Champions. FJSC Under 13 Whites trailed by two goals after ten minutes to league title contenders Maghull. Michael Hughes and Sam Kendrick both scored to level the match at 2-2. Maghull took the lead again before James Cunningham equalised before half time. Maghull scored a fourth goal but Josh Steele made it a 4-4 draw in the last minute following a Kian Fortune corner. Man of the match in this thrilling encounter was defender Sam Riley. Callum Richmond and Cameron Colbourne also deserve mention for great performances. FJSC Under 13 Whites move into fifth place. FJSC Under 17’s defeated Hesketh Colts 3 nil in midweek with goals from man of the match Jack Osborne, James Haines and Jamie Malone. In midfield Sean Groom and Mike Groom worked tirelessly and goalkeeper Jay Johnson made some fine saves. The Under 17’s also salvaged a 2-2 draw against high fliers Dynamo Bursough with FJSC equalising in the last ten minutes. Jay Johnson was man of the match on this occasion. Hayden Conning played well in midfield and Matthew Frackelton produced a strong performance in another impressive team effort. FJSC are now in fourth position. BOY’ ROUND UP In other matches played, FJSC Under 12’s won 4-2 against Crosby Stuart. FJSC Under 13’s United were held to a goalless draw by closest rivals Churchtown Athletic. United’s lead at the top has been reduced to one point. Southport Trinity’s win against FJSC Blacks now makes Trinity the biggest challengers to United in a three-way title challenge with a lot of matches still to be played. FJSC Under 14’s ran out 8 nil winners in their match with Birkdale R. FJSC Under 16’s went back to the top of the league after gaining three points in the 5-2 win over Birkdale United. Lucas Foster scored for FJSC Under 11 Whites in midweek but their opponents Southport FC proved to be too strong on the day. However the Whites bounced back in style in a thrilling match at Forefield. Alex Myles, Charlie Campbell and Luke Plunkett were on the scoresheet. FJSC Under 10 Whites played a well organised Crosby Stuart. Goalkeeper Ben Marsh kept the Whites in the game with a series of brave saves. Steven Mordaunt and man of the match Luke Honour scored. Rajan Naidoo was FJSC Under 10 Black’s captain for the day in the fixture with Phoenix. After going two goals down early on, the Blacks fought back well and gained a good result. Man of the match for his goals was Harry Knowles. Marc Whitelaw, Ben Hough and Harry Dowd were also scorers. Sam Mycek was on target for FJSC Under 9’s with a goal against Hesketh Colts. Jake Bellemey and Ioannis Kardoulias had goal bound shots well saved. Dominic Hamilton, Dan Green and Oliver Charnock all played well. Man of the match for FJSC Under 8’s was Josh Kenn for his clinical finishing. Lewis Parker and Jake Stanton were also marksmen in the match against Burscough Dynamo. It was a topsy-turvy match between FJSC Under 7 Blacks and Redgate Green. Thomas Dent led the way with some well- taken goals and was voted player of the match. Fraser Holloway also scored in another good match between the two clubs. GIRLS’ ROUND UP FJSC Under 12 Jets lost 3-1 to Remyca Youth. Liberty Murphy scored late on. Rangers also suffered a defeat to Churchtown Lightning. Erin Denison scored and Chloe Siliprandi had an exceptional match in midfield. FJSC Albion were held to a goalless first half in a very close match with Hesketh Colts. After the interval Sophia Wright broke the deadlock with a goal from a Yasmin Godsall cross. Harvee Hindley then scored a wonderful solo goal in an entertaining match. FJSC Real’s Jess Lynch scored a hat trick against Crosby Stuart. The Crosby team then scored three times in an end- to-end game. A late goal from Ava Lewis settled the match result. Player of the match was Jess Lynch. Hotspurs captain for the day Lauren Boardman also scored in the match against Town Green. In a very good team display Paige Leather, Sally Allmark and Olivia Ball also netted. Neve Thornton playing in goal for the first time, made some fine saves. Girl of the match was Paige Leather. INTER CLUB SECTION Inter Club attendance was still lower than usual due to the holidays.
