The illegal travellers that moved into Sumner Road car park in Formby last Friday have now left the site.
They left around 5pm tonight - Monday 18th April after being served with their first notice from Sefton Council which gave them 24hrs to move on. A court hearing date was fixed for Thursday 21st April but, is now not needed.
The travellers even tidied up after themselves, leaving rubbish neatly in bin bags tied at the side of the road.
They have caused a bit of chaos with parking in the car park in their short stay, taking up over 15 car parking spaces with their two caravans and were seen with washing lines and ironing boards on the road.
Many people have complained as to why the travellers do not receive parking tickets like everyone else. The simple answer is, it's a 'health and safety' issue and the traffic wardens are advised on those grounds to stay away. The car park carries a two hour parking with no return policy.
Cllr Simon Jamieson said: "Some people may not be aware, Sefton Council actually have a well provided for traveller site on Southport old Rd in Formby, just by Formby Hall Golf Club so there is no need for them to be in Sumner Road".
