Formby man denies double stabbing and says he was defending himself

Paul Range denies wounding Mark Brady and Michael Arnold in Formby and knocking Paul McCollah unconscious. Paul said he was defending himself and feared for his life.
Paul Range, 56, of Wicks Crescent, is alleged to have wounded Michael Arnold and Mark Brady at a block of flats above shops in Harrington Road.
The court was told that Paul Range, 56 years old of Wicks Crescent in Formby, was enraged by noisy neighbours when he knocked someone out with one punch before arming himself with a kitchen knife and stabbing two other people on Friday 25th September last year.
Paul Range denies wounding Mark Brady and Michael Arnold at the block of flats behind the shops on Harington Road. Paul also denies knocking Paul McCollah unconscious.
Sarah Holt, prosecuting, said: “the defendant’s case is, having gone to the flats to complain about the noise, he was confronted and assaulted. He denies being in possession of the knife and his case is that he acted in self-defense at all times.”
“The Crown say, he went there in a fit of temper, armed with a knife, intent on attacking those he found there.”
