Barry Griffiths speak on 'Sand-racing on Birkdale beach in the 1920s, and 30s', something of which many of us will now be aware; yet, if we go back to newspaper articles and printed programmes from the time we can find it was very well known and supported.

The talk was organised by Formby Civic Society and will take place tonight - Thursday 10th March at 8pm.

Barry Griffiths is a well-known and highly respected former Formby ward councillor; he is an expert on the subject and has many photographs from the period.

The meeting will be held at Ravenmeols Community Centre, 225 Park Road, Formby. L37 6EW. There is plentiful free on-site parking available.
