Dozens of happy residents turned up this morning to get their share of the free logs on Lonsdale Road.

Local Councillors Simon Jamieson and Denise Dutton arranged for the logs to be given away free of charge to local residents as a good will gesture and the site foreman for Churchill's agreed with them.
So this morning at 9am, the site was opened for residents to go along and collect as many logs as they wanted. Dozens of people turned up in cars and trailers to collect as many as they could but, there was enough for everyone.

The gates closed well before the deadline of 12noon with a lot of happy people and all the logs completely cleared away.
The site of the former Holy Trinity Primary School on Lonsdale Road is coming along well with the clearing of the site for the new devlopment of 42 sheltered retirement apartments for the elderly.
A second date will soon become available for more free logs of which we will let you know as soon as we know.
Cllr Simon Jamieson and Cllr Denise Dutton said: "We are very grateful to Churchill for their kind gesture".
The Formby residents are very grateful to the councillors for their suggestion.
