Tributes to ‘Mr Cordova Carpets’
Local residents remember popular retired Formby businessman Alan Lloyd; the founder and owner of Formby Carpet Shop, Cordova Carpets, who passed away suddenly, unexpectedly and peacefully on Saturday 23rd January at his home in Birkdale aged 86 years.

Alan and his wife Barbara moved to Formby from Liverpool in the 1960’s and shortly afterwards set up the prominent Cross Green based carpet shop which traded for thirty five years until they retired in 1995.

Alan remained an active member of Formby Rotary club which he joined in 1971 as well as the Formby U3A walking club. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his two daughters Janine and Kerris and four grandchildren.
Formby Rotary club president Jan Owen said ‘He was a respected and much loved member of the club and active right to the end. His passing will be a big loss to the club’.
His funeral will be held on Friday 5th February at Holy Trinity Church, Rosemary Lane, Formby at 11am.
