Congratulations to Isobel Swift who won MP Bill Esterson's Christmas card competition

A PUPIL from St Luke's Primary School, Formby won Sefton Central MP's annual Christmas card design competition.

MP Bill Esterson, who runs the competition each year, paid a surprise visit to the lucky pupil during a lesson to congratulate her personally. Issy Swift, a Year 5 pupil, said: “It was such a surprise! I really didn’t expect to win, but it’s nice to know that lots of people will see my design.” Mrs. Cowey, Headteacher, added: “It’s always lovely to see our fantastic pupil’s talents rewarded. Hopefully, next year, we may receive another visit.”

SEFTON Central MP Bill Esterson presented the winner of his Christmas card competition with her prize and took the opportunity to meet her classmates at St Luke's CofE Primary in Formby. Mr Esterson holds a competition among schools in his Sefton Central constituency each year and this year's winner was nine-year-old Isobel. The MP presented the Year 5 pupil with a book token and a selection box as early Christmas presents to thank her for designing this year's card. The card was delivered to thousands of homes in Formby, Crosby, Maghull, Lydiate, Aintree and Melling and will go to businesses, schools, GPs and churches in Central Sefton. The cards will also go to MPs including Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and councillors across Merseyside. Bill Esterson said: “I was thrilled with the quality of this year's Christmas card designs. As ever the standard was very high. ”Thank you to everyone who took part and congratulations to Isobel who won with a brilliant Christmas scene. I am sure that Isobel and many of the other young artists have bright futures ahead of them and that their artwork will make sure they go a long way. “Congratulations to Isobel and a special thanks to her for designing this year's card. ”I was also pleased to be able to drop in to St Luke's CofE Primary School in Formby. The children in Year 5 were designing their Christmas decorations and Year 6 were putting the finishing touches to their Christmas performances. Meanwhile the younger children were enjoying Christmas lunch, while the headteacher was peeling the sprouts. “All in all, everyone was well and truly in good spirits for Christmas. ”I should like to take the opportunity to wish everyone at St Luke's and at all our other fabulous schools a Merry Christmas.“
