HUNDREDS of Formby residents braved the torrential rain last Saturday to witness the ‘greatest story ever told' being brought to life in Formby village in the Nativity play - 'Night of Miracles'.
This year celebrated the tenth annual Churches Together Nativity, which is highly regarded as one of the most popular events in the Formby calendar. It was still dark when the Churches Together team arrived to begin the final preparations which would turn Chapel Lane into the Israel of biblical times.
Before the performance, the audience were entertained by children from Formby's local primary schools who sang a number of Christmas carols. The 50 strong cast was drawn from all the churches, high schools and the wider Formby community.
One of the highlights of the performance is the real animals who are brought in to add a touch of realism to the play. Organiser Bruni Jones said: “Formby was awash and the roads were like rivers, but our cast carried on like real professionals. ”I was so proud of everyone involved. “It is a real community effort thanks to the effort of those who worked behind the scenes and our volunteer stewards.”
All in all it was an amazing show that brought the true meaning of Christmas to our Bubble regardless of the weather.
Well done to all involved. Here is our video of the whole day which we hope you enjoy.
