THE FULL line up for Formby Christmas Lights Switch on event has been revealed, with a host of festive fun and yuletide entertainment on offer for the whole family. Father Christmas and a host of special guests and entertainers will descend on Formby village tomorrow, Sunday November 22nd, for the annual Christmas lights switch on event. The event, now in its fifteenth year, is one of the highlights on the villages' calendar of events and this year it promises to be bigger than ever.

Kicking off at 12pm, there will be a range of fairground rides and Christmas stalls on offer as well as face painting, a Father Christmas grotto, steam train rides and many more activities planned to keep everyone entertained. From 2pm the live entertainment will begin, with Sky TV's Neil Newton hosting the days events, which include a special performance by St Jerome's Children's Choir, Formby's very own singer songwriter, Anna Corcoran and award winning G-Force Choir.

Record crowds are expected to attend highlight of the evening, the spectacular lights switch on display, which will take place at 5pm. Organiser, Pat Wordley said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have Frosty, our lovely snowman, back on the traffic island this year.

”Churches together will be staging some nativity scenes and singing carols, while the Marshside Brass Band will be performing in various areas around the village. “There will also be a model steam train offering children's rides throughout the day, which I am sure will be a real hit with the youngsters.

”The committee would like to thank Formby Parish Council for their generous contribution to the lights appeal and their on going support, and the many local traders for again giving so generously to ensure that Formby continues to be able to put on fantastic display throughout the festive season.“ The display is organised through donations from local traders, Formby Parish Council and Formby Rotary Club. If anyone wishes to make a contribution to the lights switch on appeal they can contact either Pat Wordley on 07970 870212 or Cllr Denise Dutton on 07827871871.
