Formby's Red Star, Peerless and Southport net Gold awards at SIBA North West awards ceremony

Mersey breweries have picked up another crate of awards and in particular, our very own Formby brewery, Red Star - In the Speciality Bitters category, young Formby brewery Red Star won Gold for its Weissbeer.
SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers, honoured several local businesses in its North West Regional Beer Competition in Bolton.
Meanwhile Oatmeal Stour, brewed by Birkenhead’s Peerless, Peerless Brewing Company, of Birkenhead, was named overall champion in the bottled (“small pack beers”) category.

Southport Brewery won Gold in the bottled Standard Mild Ales & Brown Ales category for its Dark Night.
In the Standard Mild Ales & Brown Ales category, Warrington’s Coach House Brewing won Gold for its Gunpowder Mild and Silver for its Old Porter. It also won Gold in the bottled Speciality Beers category for its Blueberry Classic Bitter.
Wirral’s Brimstage brewery received Silver in the bottled Standard Bitters and Pale Ale category for its Scarecrow Bitter while its Sandpiper light ale was awarded Bronze in the same category.
