Formby man crowdfunding to bring back Vodka Mudshake

LTM drinks want to import the drink from Australia for UK sale.

A Formby man is seeking support from the community in order to bring back an alcoholic drink, by popular demand.

David Owens, of LTM drinks, is asking Vodka Mudshake lovers to help keep the flow of Mudshake coming in the UK.

The creamy premixed vodka beverage was manufactured by Independent Distillers and was commonplace in UK store’s from 2001-2005. Its production ceased when Independent Distillers owner, New Zealand millionaire Michael Erceg, died in a tragic helicopter crash in November 2005.

David Owens says he has received a mass influx of messages and social media comments, begging him to bring the drink back.

He said: “Everyone loves a mudshake. People were gutted when we had to stop making them and aren’t hesitant in telling me as much!”

David has been successful in finding a retailer; B&M wish to order 4056 cases, however David will need to pay production costs upfront. Including duty and VAT, it would cost £83,000 to fill B&M’s order. David is trying to raise £60,000 of that via CrowdFunder.

He added: “Last year, B&M sold 27,024 bottles of mudshake in just six days, so I have absolutely no doubt they’ll sell well.

“Anyone who pledges will receive more than their money’s worth in mudshake and other goodies, as a thank you for believing in the product.

“A £10 donation, for example, will get you six bottles of mudshake, while £50 will get you 28 bottles of mudshake and a specially prepared drinks hamper containing a bottle of Prosecco, a bottle of toffee vodka, eight shots, two tubs of bar nuts and a corkscrew!”

There are other donation price combinations available, and David is urging people to pledge whatever they can - even if it’s £1.
