What a fantastic weekend of football there was at Formby Junior Sports Club. Here are just a few of the amazing statistics. 23 teams Representative Teams played for FJSC in local leagues. 9 Girls’ teams played. Another new record. 14 Boys’ teams were in action. 6 FJSC Girls’ teams played in the new Hightown Girls’ League 8 FJSC teams played competitive matches for the first time. 210 children played in FJSC’s Inter Club Section on Saturday. 17 Inter Club teams played at Deansgate Lane. 108 girls played football at FJSC. Formby Junior Sports Club Under 14’s are top of the West Lancs Girls’ League. After winning against Wigan Athletic last week the girls continued their excellent start to the season with a 4-I victory over The Fillies. Anna Rutherford scored all four FJSC goals. Nina Macy and Sophie Dixon were outstanding in midfield whilst Megan Houston and Connie Gabriel were commanding in defence. The Under 16 Girls won 4-2 away at Blackburn CSC with goals from Molly Barton, Rhianna Meehan, Caitlin MacBeth and Alivia Hutchinson. FJSC Under 13’s lost 3-1 to last season’s champions Hesketh Colts but played very well. Josie McIver scored. Winger Lily Hamilton and defender Abby Hobbs both excelled. Player of the match was goalkeeper Rachel Robinson. FJSC Under 13 Boys’ defeated S and B Rangers 6 nil. Sean Jones scored a brace. Gerard Casterton, Jenson Finn, Alex Fowewe-Holt and Bryn Macy scored one goal each. Man of the match was Oliver Shaw. There was a ten- goal thriller played between FJSC Under 13 Whites and Redgate Whites. Redgate led 4 nil. FJSC pulled back to 4-4 before two late well-taken free kicks gave Redgate the win. FJSC’s scorers were Josh Steel, Cameron Colbourne, Matthew Hough and man of the match James Cunningham. FJSC Under 13 Blacks lost to Dynamo Burscough Green. FJSC Under 14’s drew 2-2 with Birkdale SAC. Owen Highton and Max Sumner scored. Defender Euan Smith was man of the match. The Under 12’s lost 4-1 to S and A Blue. Player of the match and scorer was Dylan Sudlow. James Williams- Tranter also played well. The Under 16’s lost 4-2 to Southport FC. FJSC Under 17’s gained a well-earned 3-3 draw against Birkdale. Rob Barker scored twice on his debut. Jonathan Birchall was also on target as the Under 17’s came back from two goals down to draw against their Under 18 opponents. In the younger boys age groups Dan King and Callum Davidson scored for Under 11 Blacks in the very even match with Crosby Stuart. Luke Phillips was the player of the game. FJSC Under 10 Whites man of the match Jake McNeight and Luke Honour both scored in a close outcome with Hesketh Colts Blue. Ben Hough was on target for the Under 10 Blacks in the fixture with Hesketh Colts Red. Goalkeeper Marc Whitelaw was man of the match. Oliver Charnock, Jacob Heaney and Sam Mycek were goal scorers for the Under 9’s against Crosby Stuart. Man of the match was Ernie Weights. The Under 8’s played some excellent football and scoring were Ben Murphy, Corey Ashworth, Harry Hale, Josh Kenn and Lewis Parker. The two Under 7 teams enjoyed their first ever FJSC matches. Scoring for the Whites in the match with Crosby Stuart were Dilan Sathiyanathan, Finn Bauer, man of the match Connor Daulby, Luke Lewis and Alfie Griffiths. The Blacks were in action against Hesketh Colts. Thomas Dent , Finley Richards and Liam Kirk all scored in another good team display. There was great excitement as the Hightown Girls’ League got under way last Sunday morning. Six of the FJSC teams played with unfortunately FJSC Rangers having to wait another week for their first encounter. In the Under 12 Division FJSC United won 2-1 against S and B Rangers with Freya Thornton and Hannah Allmark on target. Lauren Holden defended well. Liberty Murphy gave the Jets the lead against Maghull Blue. Despite some great saves by Dot Russell- Gajos , Maghull fought back to win 4-1. Four FJSC teams played in the Under 10 Division. Albion had a thrilling match with Crosby Stuart. Paige Leather and Neve Thornton were the scorers. Grace Rooney and Sarah Allmark were amongst the goals for FJSC Hotspurs. Bo Price played well for FJSC Real in the match with FJSC Albion. Albion’s scorers were Harvee Hindley, Sophia Wright, Holly Rimmer and player of the match Yasmin Godsall. Brooke Denison was very good in defence. In FJSC’s Inter Club Section there were seventeen matches played plus there were successful coaching sessions as well for all age groups. The Reception Section numbers reached twenty with all the children showing great enthusiasm and no shortage of skill. The Year One group was a little below the expected number but there was a good game played. Here is a list of the scorers in the six divisions. Saturday mornings are very busy at Inter Club and the main helpers need some assistance with a few but very necessary jobs. If any parents can help with the following please let your child’s age group organiser know. 1 Helpers needed to take the attendance register before matches. 2 Coaching register helper to collect money for coaching. 3 Volunteers to escort the groups from the pitch to the coaching areas and from the coaching areas to the pitches. 4 Volunteer referees. Occasionally refereeing your son’s match. HELP WITH GOALS AND NETS Parents of children in Reception and Year One boys are asked to please help put up the goals so they are ready for the 9 am matches. Parents of Year 2, 3, 4 , 5 and 6 boys are asked to help assemble goals so the 10am matches can start on time. Parents in all the girls age groups are asked to please help to take down the goals and return the goal bags to the container after the matches at 12 noon. HANDBOOKS If you have not received a 2015-16 FJSC Handbook yet please collect one from the clubhouse or ask your child’s age group organiser. CLUB MEMBERSHIP If you have not completed a membership form please collect one from the clubhouse and return it, filled in, as soon as possible. Parents of new members are given a few (normally no more than three) weeks to see if their child enjoys it before payment of annual membership. NEW MEMBERS New members in all Inter club age groups are very welcome to still join.
